Our tips for the perfect wedding video!
Your wedding film is a piece of your wedding day that will last forever. It has the potential to become a family heirloom; a time machine that has the power to transport you back to one of the best days of your life; a wedding film holds memories, movement, emotion and connection. Wedding films go beyond the surface-level documentation of an event - they tell a story and give you and your family a cinematic representation of one of the most significant days of your life! So how do you make sure you get the perfect wedding video??????
Research! Research your videographer! Make sure you love your videographer and how they work… here at Studio Dark we are very documentary based and prefer to capture real life moments as they play out, which means raw emotion, ugly crying, goofy laughter and double chins! Because to us, that is where the real windows and essence of being human lie and we love it. But, you may want a videographer that creates their art with a more editorial view and that is perfect too! Just make sure you’re on the same page as your videographer before any filming starts!
Spend as much time together on the day as you can. This may sound silly but you’ll be surprised how often you get pulled from one group of people to the next and you’ll be pulled there separately from your partner! We can’t get the beautiful, candid, stolen moments if you aren’t together, so keep that in mind for your day.
If you are doing a speech or have been mic’ed up, we know you will be nervous but be proud of your words - take your time, embrace the emotion that comes along with saying aloud your love notes (this always make for a good film overlay) and be proud! The words that are said on a wedding day are some of the most powerful out there and have the ability to capture the imagination of so many.
